Dessert or death?

The final voting tally as of 4/5/06 was coconut pie 9, choco cake 4, cheesecake 3, and ice cream 2. Yummy. I don't think I can choose. If I have to die on principle, SO BE IT!!!
Update 3/27/06: The photo is what we had after dinner last night. I'm not trying to sway anyone's vote or anything, but look at that puppy! (note: the marred part on the right side was from Sammy's fist)
______________
On a walk one day, the boss gave me the following important scenario to consider: A man pulls a gun on you and asks you what your favorite dessert is. You must answer him in three seconds or less or he will KILL you!!! What do you say?

I've decided to prepare myself for this unlikely contingency by determining exactly what my favorite dessert is NOW, before it's too late. You really can't avoid the tough decisions forever.

I have therefore assembled a list of finalists. They are:
  • Anne Marie's coconut cream pie
  • Breyers vanilla bean ice cream
  • Chocolate cake with chocolate icing (and maybe some Lindt truffles on top)
  • Cheescake with strawberries

I realize that the ultimate decision is my own, and that my very future may depend on it. Nonetheless, I could use some input.

As the bullets are whizzing by ... don't forget to say, "Death by chocolate ice cream!" Daddy-O

Chocolate with chocolate with chocolate with candy on top . . . whatever you said that was. I vote chocolate.

I've heard a lot about Anne Marie's coconut cream pie, but never actually had it. But given the choices and based on my tastes, I think I'd pick that one.

I'm flattered that my coconut pie made your list. It's one of my favorites too. But I also love those truffles. They don't even have to have chocolate cake underneath. AM

Hey Boss - yer poll is broken. Ain't no option for "All of the above."

Mark--yeah, that'd be my choice too. I like my desserts layered: ice cream on cake on pie on lindor truffles on cheesecake. Or as Sammy would put it, "mmmmmmmm!"

Sadly, Amy, the cake looks better than it tastes. The editors of Family Circle may have exaggerated a bit when they named it the "best chocolate cake in the world." (I'm sure it's the fault of the recipe, no the fact that I made a few, uh, "substitutions" while making it.)

Can we instead of layering the desserts, layer the timing of eating all the desserts? I would really like to keep some of those wonderful flavors separate from the others. Creating a coconut, chocolate, raspberry cheescake/pie/cake with ice cream and Lindor chocolates on top might be taking it a few steps too far. Then again...maybe not. Creating a completely new dessert with all of those elements might just work! Excellent! Who's going to make it?????? NOT IT!!

Oh, sorry, forgot to say my name in the previous comment. It was from me. I guess that is what I get for trying to run away quickly after saying NOT IT!

First of all, let me say that you are my hero for making a cake from scratch! Second, it cannot taste all that bad, since it does have a content of sugar and chocolate. Third, it is so not your fault at all if it doesn't taste as good as it looks . . .

AnneMarie's coconut cream pie wins hands down. I promise that I am completely unbiased.

Oh yeah, Aunt Edy's chocolate chip cookies finish in 2nd place.
