Envelope please...

And the winners are [drumroll]... Akron, Ohio for transitional year and Buffalo, New York for radiation oncology advanced program!!!

So, we'll be just 45 minutes or so away from Ohio Mom and Dad starting in July. This will be wonderful and we're very excited. The program is at Akron General Hospital, a really great one.

Everyone who has commented on Buffalo so far has mentioned cold and snow, but we're pretty excited about that one too. It will be four years away from most relatives, but it's a top program in a community with excellent education, a library and information science program, a lower cost of living, and lots of other advantages. The Institution itself is Roswell Park Cancer Institute, a leading organization for research and cancer treatment.

So, we are happy!

Many thanks to all who fasted and prayed when I was taking the board exam back in the summer. And many thanks to all of you who wish us the best as we go through lots of transitions for the next year and a half.

well, personally, I'm bummed that you're not coming to Tennessee, but I understand that it's all a computer's fault, so I guess I'll have to get over it. Congratulations, Shane. Keep up the good work. AM

Congrats to you all! Paul's already planning on making you look for a friend of his who he last knew to be in Akron. :)

The first time I read the "four years away from most relatives" line I was thinking along the lines of distance or 4 light years, and I thought, "it's not like they'd be moving to outer space, is it?" I get it now. Although I do find it funny imagining Coach practicing medicine on aliens. Congratulations!

I really tried to encourage Coach to apply to some of those outer space programs, but he insisted he wasn't qualified--what with all the emphasis Iowa puts on human anatomy and all. What a waste!

Exciting news! In all our moving around I've found that there are wonderful things, people, places and experiences everywhere we go. Maybe Keith can go to one of the outerspace programs next.
